A Note From Our Founder: Why Nivie Exists
My story doesn’t start in a boardroom.
It starts in a badly lit dressing room, on the verge of tears.
For my entire life, I’ve been what people kindly call “fair-skinned.”
I call it what it is: ghostly. Translucent.
The kind of pale where my own veins make my feet look like props from a zombie movie.
I’m too smart to bake in the sun.
I’ve seen the damage, I know the risks, and I accept that my skin will never be tan. But I was so tired of looking tired.
I was tired of the well-meaning “Are you okay?” questions and the sting of feeling invisible next to my glowing friends.
I went looking for a solution. A safe one.
The world of self-tanners was a sticky, streaky, chemical-smelling nightmare. And “tanning pills”?
All I found were cheap, high-dose beta-carotene capsules that promised a glow but delivered a weird, carrot-orange tint.
It felt like the industry had given up on women like us.
Like we were a problem they couldn’t be bothered to solve correctly.
One night, during a late-night research spiral, I found it: references to ancient Roman and Greek women using a “sun drink” to achieve a vital glow, and the modern clinical studies that proved their theory was right.
It wasn’t about dyeing the skin; it was about nourishing it from within using a specific profile of carotenoids to change how it reflected light.
I sat back in my chair and thought, “Why hasn’t anyone made this?”
That question changed my life.
I decided if no one else was going to make the solution I was desperate for, I would have to do it myself.
I had no idea how hard that would be.
The Formula Problem
My initial research confirmed what my gut told me: simply packing a capsule with beta-carotene was a lazy, flawed approach.
That’s why those pills make people look orange.
The secret was in the balance—a specific, synergistic profile of multiple carotenoids, like Lutein and Zeaxanthin, working together to create a natural, golden-peachy hue.
Getting that ratio right took months of research and consulting with nutritionists who specialized in skin photobiology.
The Sourcing Problem
Once we had the perfect formula on paper, we hit a bigger wall.
I learned that most supplement ingredients come from massive, industrial suppliers.
You have no idea where they’ve been or how potent they are.
That was unacceptable.
The quality of carotenoids is deeply tied to the soil and sun they come from.
For the purity and potency our formula demanded, there was only one answer.
After a long search, we partnered with a boutique factory.
Yes, it costs more. And yes, it means our supply is sometimes limited.
But it’s the only way to guarantee every drop of Nivie has the power to actually work.
The Absorption Problem
We had the perfect ingredients, but we had one final hurdle.
The most powerful formula in the world is useless if your body can’t absorb it.
A huge portion of nutrients from typical supplements are simply wasted.
We needed a gatekeeper.
That’s why we added a tiny, clinical pinch of piperine, a natural extract from black pepper.
It’s a bioavailability enhancer that tells your body to open up and welcome the nutrients in.
It ensures the carotenoid profile doesn't just pass through you—it gets to your skin cells, where it can finally go to work.
From My Skin to Yours
The first time I saw the results in my own mirror—that subtle, healthy warmth that meant I no longer looked “sickly”—I cried.
It was a feeling of relief so profound, I knew I couldn’t keep it to myself.
Nivie was built from my frustration, my research, and my refusal to settle.
We are not a massive corporation.
We are a small team dedicated to one thing: giving women like us a way to feel confident and beautiful in their skin, safely and naturally.
We don’t believe in fake tans, and we don’t believe in fake promises.
We just believe in real science, the highest-quality ingredients on earth, and the glow that comes from finally giving your skin what it’s been missing.
We are so glad you found us.
With warmth,
Katie S.,
